Sitework

We take responsibility for the site.

VOLLERS takes on substantial Sitework packages, from major earthwork and grading through the other scopes needed to build out the site. Our teams plan and coordinate the work around the conditions, sequence, and needs of the project.

Sitework

Scope

More than moving earth.

Sitework at VOLLERS starts with major earthwork and grading and extends into the connected work needed to prepare, build, and finish the site. The exact mix depends on the project.

Earthwork and Site Preparation

Mass excavation and grading, land clearing, rock drilling and blasting, and soil stabilization or improvement where conditions require it.

Underground and Structural Site Work

Utility work and underground infrastructure, retaining walls and specialty structures, shoring of excavation, and concrete where it forms part of the broader Sitework package.

Materials, Paving, and Site Completion

Crushing and material management, asphalt paving, restoration, and material movement or reuse as the job requires.

Environmental and Specialty Conditions

Environmental remediation and related site conditions can be coordinated as part of the Sitework package using VOLLERS resources and qualified specialists as the work requires.

How VOLLERS Takes Responsibility

Substantial self-performance, with more capability when the job calls for it.

VOLLERS substantially self-performs its core construction work. When a broader Sitework package calls for more, we can bring in VOLLERS Supporting Capabilities, specialist companies, qualified subcontractors, and other resources suited to the job.

That allows VOLLERS to take responsibility for more of the site package while building the team around what the work actually requires.

‍

Planning and Delivery

Plan it with the field in mind.

Good Sitework decisions start before production. VOLLERS brings estimating and field experience into the plan early, then keeps that planning connected to the work as conditions change.

Understand the Work

Scope, quantities, site conditions, access, interfaces, and project requirements shape the plan before field production begins.

Plan the Sequence

Constructibility, logistics, procurement, materials, utility interfaces, safety considerations, and schedule needs are considered together rather than in isolation.

Make Practical Decisions

Value decisions focus on how the work can be built effectively while respecting project requirements, priorities, and constraints.

Carry It Into the Field

Planning stays connected to project and field leadership so information, decisions, and priorities can move with the work as conditions change.

Connected Capability

Keeping the site package connected.

Sitework often connects directly with other scopes across the job. VOLLERS can bring those capabilities into the broader site package when the work calls for them.

01

Before and Below Grade

Demolition can lead directly into Sitework, while utilities and underground infrastructure can be planned as part of the broader site sequence. Projects with deeper utility needs can connect directly to VOLLERS' Utilities capability.

02

Field Data and Materials

Surveying and Layout can connect field data with execution. Materials and Recycling can support crushing, material management, reuse, supply, or disposal needs where those resources fit the project.

03

Finishing and Specialty Conditions

Concrete, Asphalt Paving, restoration, and Environmental Services can be brought into the broader Sitework package as the job requires.

04

From Demolition into Sitework

When VOLLERS carries a project from Demolition into Sitework, site knowledge, logistics, and safety planning can carry forward with fewer handoffs between phases.

Operating Confidence

Preparation. Judgment. Follow-through.

On larger Sitework packages, how the work is run matters. VOLLERS plans ahead, identifies issues early, keeps people and resources coordinated, and responds as conditions change.

See Issues Early

Use look-ahead thinking to identify constraints and bring problems forward before they become harder to solve.

Keep Decisions Close to the Work

Make decisions close to the work when the people involved have the information and authority to make them. Move issues up when the consequences require it.

Protect the Sequence

Coordinate people, equipment, materials, specialists, and interfaces around the work that needs to happen next.

Follow Through

Communicate clearly, bring solutions, and follow through as conditions change.

Where

Sitework

Shows Up

Built for the conditions around the work.

Sitework changes with the conditions around it. Project scale, access, active operations, schedule windows, existing utilities, security, and sensitive areas can all affect how the work has to be planned and sequenced.
