At Bridgeport II in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, VOLLERS carried the complete Sitework package for a 1.2 million-square-foot industrial development across 73 acres.
The redevelopment site brought together mass earthwork, Utilities, site concrete, parking, roadways, and off-site infrastructure work, with existing conditions below grade becoming a significant part of the job.
One package across a large site.
VOLLERS’ responsibility extended across the site, from mass earthwork and underground infrastructure through roads, parking, site concrete, and the work needed beyond the property itself.
Off-site work included extending sanitary and water infrastructure to the development along with roadway, curb, and related improvements.
The existing site was still part of the job.
Bridgeport II was a redevelopment of property that had already seen industrial use and prior demolition. As VOLLERS moved through earthwork and excavation, crews encountered existing infrastructure that had remained below grade.
Those unforeseen conditions had to be removed and worked through while the planned Sitework continued across the development.
The site conditions changed how parts of the work had to be approached.
The project combined large-scale earthwork with detailed infrastructure and off-site work. High groundwater affected portions of the underground work, while tighter areas called for smaller, more maneuverable equipment than VOLLERS would typically use for large production earthwork.
Along the waterfront side of the site, access also had to be maintained for an adjacent marine operation while the broader development moved forward.
